Earthbound: A Collection of Original Landscape Paintings Inspired by Everyday Life

There’s been a quiet shift in the studio lately.

Not in what I’m painting, but in how I’m seeing. This new collection of original landscape paintingsEarthbound, has come from a slower season for me, one shaped by young children, simple routines, and more time spent outside in the in-between moments of the day.

Instead of planning big outings or searching for inspiration further afield, I’ve found myself returning to what’s close. The countryside around the Mary Valley, the local park, the beach on a calm morning. These places aren’t new, but the way I experience them has changed - more present, more observant, more aware of light, colour, and movement as they happen.

Painting landscapes from memory, not just place

The works in Earthbound are based on real places, but they aren’t direct representations. Each original landscape painting is shaped by what lingers after the moment has passed.

Painting this way strips back detail and keeps what matters:

the warmth of the land, the openness of the sky, the softness of shifting light.

Underneath, a subtle lilac undertone moves through the work, adding calm and a quiet lift. Earthy tones come over the top, grounding each piece in something familiar and steady. It’s not always obvious at first glance, but it changes how the paintings feel over time, especially as the light in a room shifts throughout the day.

This balance between structure and softness has become a big part of my abstract landscape art process. It allows each piece to feel open enough for interpretation, while still holding a strong sense of place.

Small moments that shape the work

A lot of this collection was formed in small pockets of time.

Quick sketches. Returning to a canvas over several days. Letting layers dry fully before deciding what comes next. There’s more patience in the process now and less urgency to finish, more willingness to let a piece settle.

Outside of the studio, those same small moments have started to carry more weight.

Time at the park, sitting with both kids on my lap while the swing moves under dappled light. Yellow wattle dust drifting down from the trees. Watching one child approach everything slowly and carefully, while the other throws herself straight into it.

Our first trip to the beach together felt like a funny turning point - one child hesitant at the edge of the water, the other ready to run straight into the waves. That contrast, that curiosity, that way of experiencing the world differently stays with you. It finds its way into the work without needing to be forced.

These aren’t dramatic moments, but they’re the ones that last. And they’re the ones that have shaped this collection.

Styling original landscape art in the home

From the beginning, these original landscape paintings were made with real homes in mind.

They’re designed to sit comfortably in a space and not to dominate it, but to become part of how the room feels over time.

Pieces like Blue Skies Ahead and All the Way Blue work well in lighter spaces, where natural light can move across the surface and bring out the subtle shifts in colour. Over the Hills and Warm All Over bring more grounding, especially in living areas or bedrooms where you want a sense of calm and stability.

These works pair easily with natural materials — timber, linen, stone — and suit interiors that value warmth, texture, and simplicity. They’re not trend-driven pieces. The intention is that they hold their place in a home long-term, becoming familiar rather than decorative.

For collectors and interior designers, Earthbound offers abstract landscape art that feels resolved, considered, and easy to live with.

A collection designed for living with

At its core, Earthbound is about staying close to what matters.

It’s about noticing what’s already around you. Letting things be simple. Finding beauty in the everyday without needing to elevate it into something else.

These original landscape paintings aren’t tied to one specific place. They’re open enough to hold your own memories, your own version of a landscape, your own sense of connection.
