There’s something deeply personal about a piece of art that’s made just for you.
It’s not just decoration - it’s a story, a memory, or a moment you’ve chosen to capture on canvas.
At Terri Madden Studio, I offer custom landscape and floral commissions for collectors who want something meaningful, made with their own home and life in mind.
If you’ve ever thought about commissioning a piece but weren’t sure how it works, this guide will walk you through the process - from picking your colours to seeing your painting come to life.
Why Commission A Painting?
There’s nothing quite like walking past a painting in your home and knowing it was made just for you.
Maybe it captures a landscape from your childhood, the tones of your favourite season, or simply colours that make you feel at home.
It’s a chance to tell part of your story - and create a piece that will be treasured for years to come.

Some of my favourite moments as an artist are when collectors send me photos of my work hanging in their home, knowing we created that piece together.
What can you commission?
I offer landscape and floral artworks, in sizes up to 1m x 2m (framed canvas).
Whether you’re after soft neutrals, bold colour pops, or something that matches a special corner of your home, I’m happy to work with your vision.
You’re welcome to:
Bring a reference photo (perhaps a place you love)
Share a mood, colour palette, or memory
Request a piece inspired by one of my past works - with your own personal twist
What I don’t offer: portraits or pet paintings - sorry! But I’m always happy to point you toward artists who specialise in that.
How the process works
Commissioning a painting is easier than you might think. Here’s how it flows:
Step 1: The Enquiry
Start by filling out the Commission Enquiry Form on my website (or send me an email). We’ll chat about size, colours, and ideas. You don’t need to have all the answers - that’s part of the process!
Step 2: The Quote
I’ll send you a quote based on your size, complexity, and whether you’d like your piece framed.
Prices start from $390, and framing is optional.
Step 3: The Booking
A 50% deposit secures your spot in my commission calendar. This is non-refundable, as it covers time spent in consultation and materials like canvases (which I start preparing right away).
Step 4: The Concept & Creation
Once we’re locked in, I’ll share a concept sketch to bring your vision to life on paper before I start painting.
You’ll also get two progress updates as I work, just enough to keep you in the loop without spoiling the final reveal.
Step 5: The Delivery
When your painting is complete, I’ll send final photos for your approval. The remaining 50% balance is due before delivery.

Timelines and Important Dates
Custom artworks usually take 8 weeks, depending on the season.
For special occasions (like Christmas gifting), I recommend getting in early. Typically, my Christmas commission cut-off is mid October to allow time for framing and shipping.
Shipping and Pickup
- Australia-wide shipping is available and included in your quote if needed.
- Local pick-up is available for collectors within 2 hours of the Noosa Hinterland.
Want to Give A Commission As a Gift?
If you’d love to gift someone a custom artwork but aren’t sure what they’d choose, gift certificates are available. This lets your loved one collaborate with me to create something meaningful for their own space.
